Eagles Waive Dorial Green-Beckham

Jun 30, 2017 1:23 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles have waived Dorial Green-Beckham.

The Eagles made the move after signing Dane Evans to a three-year contract.

Philadelphia didn't have a place for Green-Beckham with Alshon Jeffery, Jordan Matthews, Torrey Smith, Bryce Treggs, Nelson Agholor and rookie Mack Hollins, among others on their depth chart at wide receiver.

Green-Beckham was a second round pick in 2015.

Trumaine Johnson Won't Sign Long-Term Deal With Rams By Deadline

Jun 27, 2017 12:00 PM

Trumaine Johnson will not reach agreement with the Los Angeles Rams on a long-term contract by the July 17 deadline.

Johnson will play under the franchise tender for the second straight season.

Johnson signed his franchise tender with the Rams on March 6, guaranteeing himself a 2017 salary of $16.742 million that will make him the NFL's highest-paid cornerback.

Johnson, a third-round pick out of Montana in 2012, is the first cornerback to be tagged in back-to-back years since Charles Woodson in 2004 and '05. Johnson made $13.952 million when he was tagged in 2016.

Dolphins Wanted To Sign Peyton Manning After Ryan Tannehill Injury

Jun 24, 2017 2:51 PM

The Miami Dolphins reached out to Peyton Manning immediately after Ryan Tannehill's knee injury last December.

Adam Gase worked with Manning during their time together with the Denver Broncos.

“He said, ‘Hey 18, [Ryan] Tannehill went down,'” Archie Manning said. “[Gase] said, ‘I think he’s going to miss some time. The first question I’m going to get at the press conference in the morning is if I’m going to try to bring you to Miami. What do you want me to tell them?'”

Said Archie: “The text message came back from Peyton, ‘You tell them I could probably come play, but there’s no way I can miss carpool the next two weeks.’ So, he was done.”

Patriots Sign David Harris

Jun 21, 2017 11:21 AM

The New England Patriots have agreed to a two-year deal with David Harris.

The New York Jets released Harris on June 6 after being unable to agree on a pay cut with the linebacker, who played 10 seasons for the team.

The Patriots needed a linebacker to play the most snaps alongside Dont'a Hightower.

Harris was surprised by the Jets' decision to release him.

A second-round pick in 2007, Harris ranks No. 2 in tackles in Jets team history.

Roger Goodell Denies Colin Kaepernick Is Being Blackballed By NFL

Jun 18, 2017 7:54 PM

Roger Goodell was asked about the Colin Kaepernick situation in which he remains unsigned amid accusations the NFL is blackballing him for his political activism.

When asked about it Thursday, he called the NFL a “meritocracy,” where players “earn [their] opportunities.”

Goodell said all teams "want to get better."

“And if they see an opportunity to get better as a football team, they’re going to do it. They’re going to do whatever it takes to make their football team better.

“So those are football decisions,” Goodell continued. “They’re made all the time. I believe that if a football team feels that Colin Kaepernick, or any other player, is going to improve that team, they’re going to do it.”

When asked if he would like to see Kaepernick get signed, Goodell said, “I don’t get involved in personnel decisions with the clubs. Those are decisions that the 32 clubs are going to have to make individually. They’re going to give whatever player they think can help them win that opportunity.

DeAngelo Hall Accepted Pay Cut To Remain With Washington

Jun 15, 2017 9:07 AM

DeAngelo Hall, coming off a torn ACL and still learning a new position, accepted a pay cut to remain with the Washington Redskins.

Hall said he recently accepted a reduced salary, cutting his base number almost in half. He had been scheduled to make $4.25 million this season but will now make $2.3 million, according to a source.

He spent his first 12 seasons at corner before moving to safety midway through the 2015 season.

"There will come a point where I'm not able to play and I'm just too old or too slow or too banged up," Hall said. "While I can still play, I want to go out and play.

"I don't know where I fit in yet, and I don't know if they know where I fit in yet. But I know when I'm healthy, I can help us win."

Seahawks Have 'Every Intention' Of Signing Kam Chancellor To Extension

Jun 14, 2017 7:09 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have "every intention" of signing Kam Chancellor to a long-term contract extension.

"We would very much like to work something out," Pete Carroll said. "We're working at it. And that's really all we'll say. But we are working at it with every intention of taking care of business. It takes awhile. Things take awhile. His frame of mind and our frame of mind are in a really good place. And we're going to work hard to get something done. We'll see if we can."

Chancellor, 29, is entering the final year of his deal and says he has yet to hear from the team about a new pact.

"I trust their word," Chancellor said. "I trust what they say. I'll just let it happen when it's supposed to happen. And all I can do is control what I can control right now, and that's playing on the field and keeping that camaraderie together with my brothers and just keep building."
